Challenges
Alumni Field, home to Wilmington High School’s Football and Soccer teams, was challenged by old Metal Halide lighting, which caused both diminished lighting performance (as low as 7-8 FC), and costly maintenance issues. In addition, the controls system on/off mechanism was critically in need of a new solution due to increasing concerns about reliability and safety.
School officials sought to replace their existing lighting with the most energy-efficient and sustainable lighting system available to reduce energy and maintenance costs while also providing a long-term lighting solution to meet their current and future lighting needs.

“We are so pleased with our new LED Lighting and the impact it will have for our player performance and safety. From design to installation, Midstream Lighting has made the entire process seamless, and we know they are our partner well into the future. As a bonus, Midstream worked with us to overcome a pre-existing, unique power issue and installed an updated controls system which was a huge benefit to significantly reduce maintenance costs. Add that to the energy reduction of the LED upgrade, as well as the visual benefits for player performance and fan experience, Midstream is a win for everyone.”
